This project turns your plumeria flower, orchid, or mini Forever-Plant into a vent clip that clips onto your car air vent.
They look so cute!
They can be used as decor or turned into air fresheners. They are so simple and quick to make.
Vent Clip Supply List:
- Vent clip
- Flower or mini-plant
- Pattern to use to make the flower or mini-plant
- Essential oil (optional)
- Hot glue gun/glue sticks
- Pea gravel (optional)
- Wine cork (optional)
Start by following the pattern instructions for a plumeria, orchid, or mini version of a Friendship Forever-Plant.

Making a Plumeria Vent Clip
For the plumeria vent clip, follow the pattern instructions (Steps 1 - 7) to make a plumeria flower.
If you will be making an air freshener, put a piece of cork fabric between the clip and the flower. To make the cork fabric fit your vent clip, first cut a small piece of cork fabric slightly wider than the car vent clip, about 1/8th of an inch. Use hot glue to attach the cork fabric to the vent clip.
Next, use hot glue to attach the plumeria flower to the cork fabric on the vent clip. Press and hold the plumeria in place long enough for the glue to cool.
Turning the vent clip into an air freshener is a good idea because you get to enjoy a nice fresh scent every time you get in the car.
Essential oils can be added to the cork fabric. The cork will absorb the essential oils and help to make the scent last longer. Add 2 to 3 drops of your favorite essential oil to the cork fabric, near the clip, at the back of the plumeria flower.
Finally, stick the plumeria vent clip onto your car's air vent and enjoy your sweet-smelling plumeria.
How to Make an Orchid Vent Clip
For an orchid vent clip, follow the pattern instructions (Steps 1 - 5) to make an orchid flower.
To make an air freshener, cut a small piece of cork fabric slightly wider than the car vent clip, about 1/8th of an inch. Use hot glue to attach the cork fabric to the vent clip.
Next, use hot glue to attach the orchid flower to the cork fabric on the vent clip. Allow time for the glue to cool.
Add 3 drops of your favorite essential oil to the cork fabric at the back of the orchid flower.
Clip the orchid to your car's air vent. Enjoy!
Making a Mini Friendship Forever-Plant Vent Clip
For a mini Friendship Forever-Plant, follow the pattern instructions (Steps 1 - 7) to make a mini friendship plant.
Next, decide which planter to use. Wine corks make great planters for vent clips. They are lightweight and you can add your essential oils directly to them, so they are easy to turn into air fresheners.
To make a wine cork planter, take a wine cork and cut it in half (this actually makes two planters, so you might as well make a friendship plant to give to a plant-loving friend.)
Hollow out the top of the cork and glue the wire plant stems in place. You can glue some gravel pieces to the top of the planter or glue some small pieces of cork back in place.
Add a few drops of essential oil to the cork planter if you want to turn your vent clip into an air freshener. Put your vent clip on your car's air vent and that's it! Project complete!
