Kraft-Tex Paper Fabric is a thin yet strong material that can be used as a substitute for leather. It is often used for making wallets and business card holders.
It feels like thick paper, but it does not tear easily. It is great to use for making plant leaves and flowers because it is so durable and it is thick enough to look like realistic plant material.
You can cut it with scissors, just like paper. So it is great to use with our plant templates.
Watercolor, acrylic paint, and pastels can be used to color the leaves, so you can create a plant the exact color you want. Another reason paper fabric is great is that the surface texture helps to keep pastels from flaking off.
Fabric paper also holds its shape well, just like paper.
Tips for Making Forever-Plants with Paper Fabric
If you use watercolor, acrylic paint, or fabric markers to color your leaves and flowers, allow drying time between each application of color.
It is possible to use paper fabric in a cutting machine. If you're having a difficult time getting paper fabric to stick to your cutting mat, try a high tack or strong tack cutting mat.
If you are cutting by hand, you can make reusable templates out of cardstock.
- First, print the PDF template onto 110 lb cardstock.
- Label each part and include the size if applicable.
- Cut the pieces out of the cardstock.
- Then, trace the template pieces onto the fabric paper.
- Cut the leaves and flowers out of the fabric paper.
